of the north-west quarter, and the west half of the south-west quarter of
section twenty, and the west half of the south-west quarter of section sev-
enteen, all in township fifty-three, and range twelve, west, and also a negro
woman slave and her three infant children, belonging to the said Ira W.
and Melissa Settle, under the direction of, and subject the approval of, the
county court of the county of Randolph, in this State.
§ 2.-The county court of Randolph county is hereby authorizea to
make an order for the sale of said real estate and slaves, and to prescribe
the mode of appraising and selling the same.
§ 3.-Said real estate and slaves shall not be sold for less than three-
fourths of the amount at which the same shall be appraised.
§ 4.-Upon payment of the purchase money for said real estate, the
said George A. Settle is hereby authorized to make a deed to the purcha-
ser, to be acknowledged and recorded as other deeds, conveying all the right,
title and interest of the said Ira W. and Melissa Settle in and to said real
estate, which shall be as effectual and valid as if made by the said Ira W.
and Melissa Settle when of full age.
§ 5.-Said guardian shall make a full report of his proceedings as to
the sale of the said real estate and slaves, and the disposition of the pur-
chase money, and if the same be approved by the .county court aforesaid,
an order shall be made accordingly, and if such proceedings be not ap-
proved by said county court, the same shall be null and void.
§ 6.-All moneys arising from the sale of such real estate and slaves,
after payment of all costs and expenses of the sale, shall be appropriated
for the benefit of said Ira W. and Melissa Settle, subject to the approval
of said county court.
§ 7.-Said guardian, and his securities as such, shall be liable on his
bond for the faithful application of the proceeds of such sale or sales, and
the county court aforesaid may, if they deem it necessary, require the said
guardian to give additional security.
This act to take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
