CHAPTER CMIII.
MARRIAGES.
AN ACT REGULATING IlRIUJAGES.

1. Marriage, a civil contract.
2. Marriages declared tobinces-

Be it enacted by the General As8senbly of the State of    li8-
souri, a8follows:-
SECTION 1.-Marriago is considered in law as a civil con-
tract, to which the consent of the parties capable in law of
contracting is essential. (a)
SEc. 2.-All marriages between parents and children, in-
cluding grand-parents and grand-children of every degree,
between brothers and sisters of the half, as well ag of the
whole blood, and between uncles and nieces, aunts and
nephews, are declared to be incestuous and absolutely void.
This section shall extend to illegitimate as well as legitimate
children and relations. (b)
(a) Marriage cannot be dissolved by the Legislature. Bryson v. Camp-
bell, 12 Mo. Itep., 408; Bryson v. Bryson, 17 Mo. Rep., 500.
(b) In line one of this section, the word parties occurs in tho rolls
for parents. Corrected by original bill.
