CHAPTER LXX.
FUGITIVES FROM OTHER STATES.
AN ACT RELATING TO FUGITIVES FRO1 OTHER STATES.

1. Upon demand, Governor to is-
sue his warrant. To whom
directed.
2. What shall be set forth in the
warrant.
3. Where and how warrant to be
executed. Power and duty of
the person to whom it is di-
rected.
4. Olicer may confine person in
jail, when. Keeper to receive
him, &c.
5. Expenses to be paid out of the
State treasury.
6. Person charged on oath of an-
other, with fleeing from an-
other State for crime, war-
rant to issue.
7. On examination, the party may
be committed or bailed.
8. Proceedings on examination.
Copy of examination to be
sent to Governor.
0. Duty of Governor.
10. Offender to be delivered.
11. If at large, on bail, sheriff au-
thorized to take him.
12. Circuit court may discharge or
detain accused, when.
13. Not to be kept in prison, &c.,
beyond what time.
14. Recognizance, if forfeited, shall
enurc to the State.
15. Bond and security for costs to
be taken from the prosecutor.

16. Costs may be collected by fee-
bills. Duty of sheriff, &o.
17. If not paid, execution to is-
sil, when.
18. Clerk may sue on bond for the
recovery of costs and charges.
10. Warrant to   arrest fugitives
from service from other States,
when to issue; command of.
20. What proof shall entitle a per-
son to such warrant.
21. Such warrant, bow executed.
22. Courtormagistrate, how to pro-
ceed, when such fugitive is
brought before them.
23. Person charged may be dis-
charged, when.
24. If a runaway slave, he shall be
committed to jail, &c.
25. If person chargedisdischarged,
remedy against claimant.
26. Proceedings, if it appear that
clailmnt is entitled to the
services of the fugitive. Cer-
tificato to be granted.
27. Authority of claimant under
the certificate.
28. No person to remove fugitive
from this State, unless by the
provisions of this act.
29. Penalty for violating preceding
section.
CO. Fees and expenses, how paid in
proceedings against fugitives
trom service, &c.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of  M8is-
souri, as follows :-
SECTION 1. -Whenever the Executive of any other State
shall demand of the Executive of this State, any person as
a fugitive from justice, and shall have complied with the re-
quisites of the act of Congress in that case made and pro-
vided, (a) it shall be the duty of the Executive of this State
to issue his warrant, under the seal of the State, (b) directed
to any sheriff, coroner or other person, whom lie may think
fit to entrust with the execution of such warrant.
