AN ACT to incorporate the Laclede Insurance Company.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:
§ 1. That an insurance company be, and is hereby established in the
city of St. Louis, to be known by the name and style of the Laclede In-
surance Company ; the stockholders of which are hereby declared a body
corporate and politic, with a capital stock of fifty thousand dollars, which
may be.increased from time to time, in such manner as the directors of
said company may prescribe, to any amount not exceeding the sum of five
hundred thousand dollars; and the said company shall enjoy the same
rights,. privileges and powers, and be subject to the same restrictions as
were granted and enacted in regard to the St. Louis Lambermore [Lum-
berman's ] and Mechancies [Mechanics'] insurance company, by an act
of the general assembly of the state of Missouri, approved the'20th day
of February, 1851, and the act amendatory of said act, approved February
28d, 1853.
§ § 2. John M. Minor, Thomas L. Sturgeon, Andrew Lemon, James
Patterson, Guilford T. Chamberlain, Isaac T. Green, John Sexton, jr.,
John W. Thornburg, Ellis N. Leeds, William G. Clark, Peter Wiles, Wm.
S. Stamps, Win. Clark, Joseph Rowe, John Goodfellow, Hiram Johnson,
Richard Cole, Joseph S. Hull, Martin L. Bates, or any five of them, are
hereby constituted commissioners to open books of subscription to the
capital stock, in the same manner as is provided in the charter of said St.
Louis Lamberman [Lumberman's] and Mechancies [Mechanics'] insur-
ance company.
§ 3. The stock, property and affairs of this company shall be managed
and conducted by thirteen directors, who shall be stockholders of said
company, and residents of the city of St. Louis, and they shall be elected
annually on the second Monday of April, and hold their office for one year,
and until their successors are chosen and qualified.
§ 4. This act is declared a public act, and shall take effect, and be in
force from and after its passage, and shall continue in force until the 31st
day of December, eighteen hundred and eighty-five.
