R E L I E F.
AN ACT for he relief of Benjamin Tharp, afree manof color.
Benjamin Thorp, a free man of color, permitted, on certain conditions, to reside in J&ckson
County.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows.,
§ 1. That if Benjamin Thorp, a free man of color, of Jackson county,
shall, on or before the first day of May next, enter into bond with good
and sufficient security, in the clerk's office in Jackson county, in the sum
of at least live hundred dollars, payable to the State of Missouri, con-
ditioned that said Benjamin Thorp shall not violate the law in force in
this State, in regard to free negrocs and mulattoes, who are permitted to
reside in this State, and that said Benjamin Thorp shall not at any time
become a charge to any county in this State, then, and in that case, it
shall be lawful for the cleik of the county court of Jackson county to
grant a permission to said Benjamin Thorp to reside in Jackson county,
and it shall be lawful for him, the said Benjamin Thorp, to reside in the
same, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.
This act to take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

Gideon P. Wyatt, collector of Gnsconade, released ffrom  certain petialties.
Be it enacted by the General Assen'ily of the State of Missouri, as fjilows.
§ 1. That all fines, forfeitures and penalties incurred by Gideon P. Wy-
ntt, collector of Gasconade county, in consequence of his failure to pay
into the State treasury the balance of the revenue of Gasconade county,
for tfie year eighteen hundred and forty-four, are herchy remitted ; pro-
vided that lie shall pay the whole amount due on or before the eleventh
day of February, instant.
This act to take effect from it, passage.
