CHAPTER 56.
Passed Jan. AN ACT to compensate George Vickers, for le-
25, 1862.    gal services rendered the State, in the case of
the State against Albert Reed, (free negro.)
Sumr appro-  SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General lssembly
printed, &a. of Maryland, That the Comptroller of the State,
be and he is hereby authorized and required to
draw a warrant upon the Treasurer for two hun-
dred dollars, payable to George Vickers, fbr legal
services in the Court of Appeals of this State, in
the case of the State of Maryland against Albert
Reed, (free negro,) for the murder of George Van-
zant, Under the direction of the late Executive ;
and that the Treasurer be and lie is hereby di-
rected to pay the same.
In force.  Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.
CHAPTER 57.
Passed Jan.AN ACT amendatory of an act passed by the
29, 1862.    General Assembly at its January session, eigh-
teen hundred and fifty-three, chapter three hun-
dred and two, incorporating the Frederick and
Monocacy Turnpike company.
Commission-  SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

authorized and empowered to do all the acts and
perform all the duties specified in said act to be
performed by the five Commissioners therein
named.
In foree.  Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take eihect from the day of its passage.
