In force.    SEc. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Passed March AN  ACT for the benefit of Ebenezer Horner,
10, 1858.
James H. Webb, William Hammond, Ennals
Dickerson, Hewett Ross, William Philips, Israel
Collins and Stephen Philips, free persons of
color, of Caroline county.
Preamble.  WIiEnEAS, it is represented to this General Asseni-
bly, that Ebenezer Homer, James I. Webb,
William Hammond, Ennals Dickerson, Hewett
1loss, William Philips, Israel Collins and Ste-
phcn Philips, of Caroline county, free persons
of color, have by their industry, economy and
good conduct, acquired some real estata in Caro-
line county, whicli they arc desirous of trans-
mitting by their last wills, which under the ex-
isting laws of this State they are unable to do
Therefore;
Authorisedto  SECTION 1. Beit wiacted by lh Gee oCl Assein-
pertyib° fwill.Pr bly of Maryland, That the said Ebenezer Borner,
     James H. 'Webb, William      Hannond, Ennals
Dickerson, Hewett Ross, William Philips, Israel
Collins and Stephen Philips, be, and they are
hereby authorised to devise, bequeath and dispose
of their said lands and tenements by their last
wills and testaments, and the said devisces are
hereby authorised and empowered to have, hold,
occupy, possess and enjoy the said lands and tone-
inents as fully as the lawful descendents of other
persons now do, any law, usage or custom to the
contrary notwithstanding.
