and directed to pay to William W. Johnson, of
Somerset county, the sum of one hundred and
thirty-eight dollars and nineteen cents, the same
being an amount of so much money erroneously
paid by him into the Treasury of the State.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall in force.
take effect from the date of its passage.
CHAPTER 146.
AN ACT for the relief of Joshua Brown, of Anne 11assed March

SECTION 1. Be it eiatcd by the GClercd A88em- Authorised to
bly of Marylad, That Joshua Brown, of Anne hold slave.
Arun del county, be and he is hereby authorised,
entitled and empowered, to have, hold, own and
keep, in the State of Maryland, a certain negro
man, named Tom Boteler, as his slave for lifoe,
sold under the act of eighteen hundred and forty-
nine, chapter one hundred and twenty-four, entit-
tled a supplement to as act respecting the pun-
ishiment of slaves,' and purchased by the said
Joshua Brown, as a slave for life, as aforesaid.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall In forc..
