CHAPTER 75.
Passed Febru. AN ACT to authoriso W\illinm Johnson, a free
ary 23, 1558.

and personal estate by last will and testament.
Preamble.   WIEREAS, It is represented to this General As-
sembly, that William Johnson, a free negro,
of Calvert county, has by his industry, economy
and good conduct acquired certain real and
personal estate in said county, which he is de-
sirous of transmitting by lhis last will and tes-
tamient, but which under existing laws of this
State lie is unable to do, therefore,
Authorised to  SECTION 1. Be it enaeled bj the Genieral Assem-
,ipo ot.  bly qf 4lar1/land, That the said William Johnson
be and lie is hereby authorised to devise, bequeath
and dispose of his said real and personal estate
by his last will and testament; and the person or
persons to whom lie may devise or bequeath the
same, are hereby authorized and empowered to
have, hold, occuiy, possess, inherit and enjoy the
said real and personal estate as fully as the law-
fiul descendants of other persons now do, any law,
usage, or custom to the contrary notwithstanding.
In trce.    SEc. 2. And he it enacted, That this not shall
take effect from the day of its passage.
