Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mryland, Authority to
That the'0conty commissioner's of Howard-county, be: levy.
end they are'hereby authorised and required to levy on
the assessable: property of Howard county, the  sum. of
five hundred dollars, towiards satisfying Henry McDade,
a poor man, for theloss -of his only slave, Who was
killed in endeavoring to preserve the peace, and separ-
ate combatants, who were disturbing the order and quiet
of the Slate.
CHAPTER 240,
AN ACT appropriating a sum of money for the pay-     'assea
ment of John Palmer.               Mar. 10,1854.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly  Auth6rtjo
of Maryland, That the Tieasurer is hereby required Pay,
on the' warrant of the  Com'p troller to pay to John Pal.
mer, or his order, three dollars and eighty-six cenls,
being the amount due him as clerk of the circuit court
for Queen Anne's county, by the State of Maryland.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take In fici.
