Passed  .AN ACT to allow George Snyder of Washington coun-
Feb. Q4, 1854. ty, to bring into this State, a slave for a term of years
named therein.
Leave grant-  SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
ed.       of Maryland, Tliat it shall und may be lawful for
Gi orge Snyder of Washington county, to bring intothis
State, from the State of Virginia, a negro man nawed
Jacob Beatty, a slave for a term of years purchased by
the said George Snyder.
In force.  Sac. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from and after the (late of its passage.

Passed  AN ACT to incorporate the Clioptank Steami Boat

Green and George R. Dodge, are created a body cor.
porate and politic, under the name and style of the
Choptank Steam   Boat Company, and by the said
naine they,their associates and succossorsshall have per.
petual succession, and be entitled to, and have all the
powers and privileges necessary or incident to a cor.
pointion having for its object tihe navigItiom of the
Chesapeake Bay and its tribultmy waters by vesels,
with the aid or use ofsteam power, and for the convey.
ance of freight. and passengers or for the purpose of
aiding or towing other vessels.
Organization.  SEc. 2. Anidbe it entteledl, That the corpornorts
herein named shall have power to organise as a board
of directors whenever a suflicient amotnt of stock is
subscribed, to purchase or build two Steam B]oals ; Pro-
Provisoes. vided, the cost of said Steam  Boals shall nt exceed
fifty thousand dollars, and thereafter they shall as n
board be atlhorised to receive additional subscriptions
