CHAPTER 475.
An act for the benefit of the wife aihd children ofPassed10.Mar.;
Isaac Downes, a dec-as;.d colored man, of Caroline
County.
WiIE W As, it is represented to this General Assembly, Preamble.
That a certairi Isaac Downds, colored man, of Caroline
n6tfntk, departed this life, sdiie years ago, leaving real
property, namely: a house and lot, consisting of twa or
three aces, and leaving a wile and children, who under
the laws of this State, dre incompetent to inherit the
same--Therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enaeted by the General Assembly May hold prop
Maryland, That the wife and children of the said r
Isaac Downes, be and the same are hereby made capa-
ble of taking the said property, subject to the provisions
of the act regulating descents, in this Stale.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing rxOPt'O
in said act. regulating descents in this State, or any other
acts which incapacitates free negroes from inheritants,
shall apply the wife and children of the said Isaac
Downes.
