CHAP 271.                  CHAPTER 271.
Passed March An act to Incorporate ClIesap cake City, in
J, 1850.                         County.
Preamble.    WtiEriEAs. it is represented to this General Assembly,
that it would greatly contribute to the advamtage and
improvement of Chesapeake City and Bohemia Village,-
in Cecil county, if the same should be placed undew
the care and reguliation of certain commissioners to be
elected by the citizens thereof, and vested with sufficient
powers to forward and cflect the purposes intended-
STherefore,
Incorporated, ScroN 1: .Be it enacted by the General Assembly'
&C.        of IA'yrlanid, That the citizens of Chesapeake City
and. Bolemia Village, in Cecil county, shall be and|
they arc hereby constituted arid made a body ,orporate
by the inmue of the president and commissioners of the
towvn of ('hesapeake City, and as such shall have itid-
cession, and by iheir corporate name may sue'and 'be
sied, plead and be impleaded, grant, receive, and do
all other acls as natural persons, and toay purchase and
hold real, per.oial , and mixed property, or dispose of'
the same for the benefit of the sid town, and may have
and use a common scal, whichi may be bioken or al-
tered at. pleasure.
Commhsioners  SjIc. 2. .lnd be it enacted, That all free while male
to he elctetd citizens of the own of Chesapeake City aforesaid,
a)ove  twenty-one  years of age, who shall have
bona fide resiled in said town for and during the spane
of six months, and twelve months in the slate, next
,receding the election, shall, on the first Monday ii
May next, at the house now occupied as a tavern by
John J. R. Poole, and on the first Monday in May in each
and every year hereafter, at such house as shall here-
after be designated by the municipality, be authorised
to elect five judicious and discreet persons commissioners
for the said town, and who shall have resided within
the limits of the said town for at least twelve months
next preceding the election.
Firstele'tion.  Si.. 3. rjnd be it enacted, That any justice of the-
how condiucted peace for the county aforesaid, shall in the first instance,
be the judge of said election, who shall open the polls at
icu o'clock in the evening, and close the same at seve
o'clock in the evening? anid shall return his certificate of
the persons elected to the said commissionersi on the day
Ii .st appointed for their meeting, and the same shall be
iled and recorded among their proceedings.
