Jn act to permit Guardians, Executors, and Trustees, to Pa,,edstar. S,,is
bring Slaves into this State, fron any adjoining State or
Dist ict, to hire and work, and not for satle.
Section 1. Be it itacded by the General ,/lssembly of Jlfa. Gu  lian eves,.
ryland, That front and after tlc passage of this. act, all  to
Guardians, Executors, andTrustees, heretofore or hereafter bring ill sAr
appointed, or any one of them, residing in this State., ap.
pointed by last will and testament,or otherwise, in this State,
or any adjoining State or District, are hereby authouised
and permitted to bring into this State, from any adjoining
State or District, any slave or slaves, being slaves for life,
confided to them in trust, and the same to hire out and
work, from time to time, for the benefit of the persons con. Purpoas oi
nected with the trust, and not for sale, and the Same to re-
move back to any adjoining State or District, at discretion,
and back again to .this State, from any adjoining State or
District; Provided; that a list of such slaves shall be made Lift ., r€r r.
out by said guardian, executors, or trustees, or any one of qtired
them, within thirty days afler their removal, and recorded
in the clerk's office in the county to which said slaves may
be, at any time, removed uder this act.
. Sec. 2. 4ind be it . enacted, That no slave or slaves, Frwom larrel
brought into this State, under, and by virtue of this act,
shall be. entitled to freedom thereby, any law to the contrary
hotwithstanding..
