Be it enacted by, the: General A4s. emi! of Maryland, That the 12, 1825. judges of .Prince George's county court, be, and they are hereby rnsolvant law Jo extcnded to. authorised and empowered. to hear and consider the pietition of John Middleton, pf said' county; whenever it may be made to them, and grant and extend to him the benefit of the insolvent Provisoes. laws of this state; Provided, he shall appear to be in every respect entitled to it except that of residence; provided also, that the 'said Judges shall be satisfied that the said John Middleton did not come into this state with the intention of taking the benefit of the sevw- ral acts of assembly passed for the relief of insolvent debtors. WVhereas, it appears to this general assembly, that old or ii'firm negro slaves belonging to deceased persons estates which on settle- inent, prove to be insolvent, are frequently subjected to great suf- Provision a u- fering and want; Therefore, thorised. .Be it enacted by the Gencralsssembly of Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act, the levv courts in the several counties of this state, be, and they are her by authorised and re- quired to make such suitable provision for all old and infirm negro .laves belonging to insolvent estates of deceased persons as in tieirjudgment may'be necessary for their support and maintenance. CHAPTER 101. Passed Feb. -An act supplemnentary to an act entitled, An act to incorporate the TrustecT. 11, 1825. of the Franklin Academy or School in Baltimore county. Fixed at Sac. 1. Be it enacted bit the Genernl Assembly of Maryland, That Reisterstown the location of the Franklin Academy, or School of Baltimore county, shall bc forever hereafter fixed and established at Reister's. Proviso. town ill said couhty; provided, that a good and sufficient building, large enough to accommodate seventy scholars, be erected and conveyed to the trustees of said academy and their successors, together with a lot of' ground attached thereto, containing not less than half an acre, for the use of said academy, within eighteen months from the passage of this act. Additional 2. Andbe it enacted, That John Sumwalt, David Winchester, Jr. trustees. Daniel Forney and Charles Larsh, be, and they are hereby ap- pointed additional trustees for the said Franklin Academy. RIepeal. 3. And be it enacted, That any thing in the original act, to which this is a supplement, inconsitetit with the provisions of this act, be, and the same is hereby repealed. CIIAPTER 102. Passed Fcb. An act to enable the Mayor and City Council of Frlederick to receive a be- 1l, 1825. quest for the purposes therein mentioned.' Preamle. IT'hereas, it has been represented to this general assembly, that a certain William Al. Beall, late of Frederick county, 'deceased, did bequeath unto the Mayor and Corporation of Frederick-town or city, five hundred dolla's in money, to be distributed by said MAyoi- and Corporation among the poor peo~le of all denomina.
