%An act authorizing the recording of a Deed of Manumission.
Passed Jai).  Whcreas, Hai'rv Simms of the city of Baltimore, by his petition
24, 1825.   to this General Wssembly, hath set forth, that he was the slave of.
Preamble.   Jacob Franklin, of Anne' Arundel county, who on the thirt) -first
day of August, eighteen hundred'and eighteen, executed a deed of
manumissions by which he declaretd the said Harry Simms free,
and disehaiged i rom all manner of servitude or service to him, the
'said Jacob Franklin, his executors, or administrators forever, but
through ih  neglect or omissibn of the Said Jacob Franklin, the
said deed was tiot rec6rdeil in due time; and remairied anricorded
at the time of his death, and praying that a law n'ay pass to author-
ize and direct the siid deed oft manumission to be recorded; and
whlfeas the prayr of the daid petitioner appears to be just and rea-
sonable- Theierore,
Recol'd au-  Be it enacted by thi General Assembly of Maryland, That the
thorized.  clerk of Anne Arundel county court, is hereby authorized and re-
quired, upon application being nade to him for that purpose, ta
record the aforesaid deed of manuinission; and the same when
so recorded, shall have the same effect and operation as if it had
been recorded within the time limited by law.
CIIAPTER 62.
Passed Jan. An act for the relief of Reuben D. Tucker of Burlington county, in the
21, 1825.                         state of New Jersey.
]'rcanble.   JV/hercas, It is represented to this General Assembly, by the
etition of Reuben D. Tucker, that he is now in confinement in
hahltimore county jail for debts which he is unable to pay; and that
lie is deprived of a right to resort to the insolvent laws of this state,
by reason of his not having resided two years in the state of Marv-
land, according to the provisions of the'said laws; Therefore,
Insolvent law  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of A.aryland, That lteu-
extended.   ben D. Tucker, Le, and he is hereby authurized to proaecute a
petition for the benefit of the ins.lvent laws of this state. without
being compelled to prove his residence in the state of Maryland, for
the last two years; and that his want of residence shall not
prevent him from  obtaining the benefit of the said insolvent laws
of this state; Provided, that the said Reuben D. Tucker shall sa-
tisfy the commissioners that he did not come into this state for the
purpose of obtaining the bencfit of the insolvent laws of said state;
l'rosiso.   and provided also, that the said Tucker comply with all the other
terms and conditions of said insolveat laws.
IIAPTER 63.
An act to anthoize two justices of the peace, to judge and approve of the

19, 1825.     SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of 2Maryland,
Authority  That any two justices of the peace, in and for Allegany county,
grajited.   be, and they are hereby authorived and empowered to judge and
approve of the securities in constable2, and supervisors bonds, in
th, .same manner as the levy court of said county are now author-
ized and empowered to Jo, during the recess of the said levy couri,
any lav to the contrary notwithstanding.
