Deed confiv-  Si:c. 1. Be it elacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
-Dcd.       That the deed from Iartin Myers, of WF 5hington county, to John
AV. Stcinmetz, of said county, hearing date the eleventh day or
'May, in the year one thousand Viglht hudred and twenty four, for
a lot of ground in the town o( Clear Spring, in the county afore.
said, be, and the same is hereby declared to have all the force and
efrect to transfer the right and title- of the said Martin Myers, of,
iii, and to the property mentioned in stiik deed, to the said John
AV. Steinmetz, as if the said J ohn W. Steinmetz had been natu-
rdised before the execution of the said deed, agreeably to the laws
of the United States, regulating the naturalization of foreigners;
Proviso.    Provided alwags,. 'hat nothing contained in this act, shall be taken
or construed in any manner to affl-ct any right, title, or claim to the
said property, or any part thereof, which may have b. en acquired
by any other person or persons before the paisage of this act.

to hlld pro-  he is hereby empowered and declared capable to purchase, have,
perty.      hold, possess and enjoy real~estate in this state, and the same to
convey, transfer, or transmit by deed,. devise or descent, in the same
manner and subject to the same rules, as if he were at the time
regularly naturalized, agreeably to the. lawsof the United States
Proviso.    regulaling the naturalization of foreigners; Provided also, that the
said John NV. Steinmetz shall within twelve months after the pas.
sage of this act, naturalize himself agreeably to the laws of the
United States;but if the said John W. Steinmetz should die be-
fore he becomes naturalized, nothing in this proviso shall prevent
him from transmitting or transferring his said property by descent.
