.1tV-J           An act for the bcnefit of Nancy Paul, of Dorchester county.
Passed Jan.  WVnrItEAS, it is represented by the petition of Nancy Paul that she
12, 1824.
Preamble.   was the mother of an illegitimate child called Robert Paul, who i,
now deceased; that the father of said child by his last will and testa-
ment bequeathed him the sum of three hundred dollars, which has by
direction of the Orphans' court of Dorchester county been put out at
interest, none of which has been applied to the maintenance and edu-
cation of the said child, but the expenses of which have been defray-
ed by the said Nancy Paul; and it being further represented that the
said Nancy PIaul is aged and infirm, and has exerted herself to raise
and educate the child aforesaid-Theretore,
Privile-e   Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the said
nranted.    Nancy Paul is hereby empowered and made capable in law to re-
ceive, sue for, and recover, the said sum of three hundred dollars and
the interest due thereon, which was devised to her son Robert Paul,
in the same manner as if the said Robert had been the legitimate child
of the said Nancy Paul.

13, 1824.      An act to confirm certain official proceedingsof Richard B. Mitchell.
Preamble.     WHEREAS, Rtichard B. Mitchell was heretofore erroncousl named
in the commission of the justices of the peace of this state in and for
Baltimore county, Bennet J. Mitchelk and he did nevertheless offici-
ate as a justice of the peace, subscribing his true name, till the error
was corrected by the Governor and Council;-Therefore,
Acts con-  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That all the
irmed.     lawful acts and deeds done and performed by Richard B. Mitchell, a
justice of the peace of this state, in and for the county of Baltimore,
shall not be invalidated or affected by the error of his being named in
the commission by the Governor and Council of this state Bennet J.
Mitchell, instead of Richard B. Mitchell.
CHAPTER 51.
Plssed Jan. An act to exempt the Servants of Overseers of the County Roads in )orchester
14, '824.                  County, from doing duty on said Roatls.
Prcmule.    WuIREAs, the overseers of the Count)' Roads for Dorchester
County, are subject to a presentment and fine for neglect of duty, and
are allowed no compensation for their services; Thercfore,
Exempt.       Be it enac ted by the General Assembly of 4laryland, That from and
after the passage of this act, the servants of overseers of the county
roads for Dorchester County, be, and they are hereby exempt front
doing duty on the county roads for the time being.
CHAPTER 52.
Passed Jan. An additional supplement to an act, entitled, An act to provide for the building
12, 182!.             a Bridge over Antietum Creek, in Washington County.
Preamble.      ViHEREAS, an act of assembly was passed at )ecember session,
18212, authorising the levy court of Washington County to levy on
the taxable property of the said count), the sum of eighteen hundred
dollars, for the pr 'pose of building a Bridge over AntLcatum Creck,
at the place where the road leading from Boonsborough to Sharps-
burgh crosses the said Creek; and -whereas it was provided by a sup-
plement to the aforesaid act also passed at December session, 18212,
that the levy court of the county aforesaid, should not be required to
carry into effect the provisions of the original act aforesaid, unless
upon such ompromise or arrangement with the Boonsborough Turn-
pike Road Company, as they in their discretion might deem just and
