Passed Dec. An Act for the better payment of the Jurors and Justices tuf W  . y Coutm ia
2, 1823.                             Cecil County.
Rate allowed.  Be it enacted by the Gcneral Awnbbt of lar!!lz,/, That each and
every Juror summoned on the rcgular panel of Jurors to Cecil
County Courts, who shall reside more tihan ei;lit miles from th-
place of holding the said court, shall, in addition to the per diem
allowed him by law, be entitled to -n allowance of ten cents fr every
mile more than eight miles, h' shall travcl in going to and returnin*
from the court, likewise that each and eviv Justice of tb  .evy
Court, who shall reside more thn eight miles from the place of ho -
ding their courts, shall, in addition to the per dilm allowed him hy
law, be entitled to an allowance of ten cent  for every mile, more
ihan eight miles he shall travel in going to anrd returning from each
court, to be levied, collected and paid, in the slime xancir ald at
the same time with his per diem allowance: 11,,ovided, -hat the said
itinerant charges shall be alloVed to each of tle said Jurors, and
each of the said Justices of the Levy Court only for once a week go-
ing to, and once a week returning from the said courts at anN one
term.

Levy forShe-  Src. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly oJ'ilrh,,and, That
riff for keep- the Justices of the Levy Court for Caroline'countv, be, and they arc
in Jacob
T.ompson    hereby authorised and directed at their next annual levy to levy on
prisoner,   the assessable property of said county, a sum of money, not exceed-
ing twenty cents per day, for the use of Frederick lolbrook, sheriff
of said county, for every day that he shall satisfy tle said court that
he kept in prison Jacob Thompson, negro, who was committed for
his fine and fees arising on a presentment in the county court of said
county, at March term last past, and made his escnpa from the pri-
son thereof.
$8 for S.   2. And be it enacted, That thme Levy Court aforesaid, he, and they
Fountain.   are hereby authorised and directed at their next annual levy, to levy
on the assessable property as aforesaid such slim of money as they
shall think right and proper, not exceeding eight dollars, for the use
of Samuel Fountain, of said county, as a remuneration to him for ex-
pences incurred in the sickness and burial of a certain James Sater-
field, of said county, (not heretofore levied,) who accidently fell sick
and died at his house.

Passed Dec. An act to settlo and ascertain the salary of tie Members of the Colncil for the
13, 1823.                            ensuing Year.
.3UOallowed.  Be it cnacted by/ the General A.ssenbl o Meyand, T[hat each
member of the Council shall be entitled to receive fbr the ensuing
year, the sum of five hundred dollars current money for his salary.
