Dec Ses. 1822 the usc and'benefit of a school in said county, for the education of poor
~        children; and 7vhereas it appears that the benevolent intentions of thc
grantor arc likely to be frustrated by reason of the neglect of the visi-
tors aforesaid to supply vacancies accruing by the death and resigna-
tion of the visitors; and -whereas it appears that all the visitors afore-
said are now dead, and the said land is exposed to the depredations
of evil disposed persons, and has become entirely useless; therefore,
Incorporation  Section 1. lie it enacted by the General iXse'mbl of X'aryland,
That Joseph Pattei n, John Beale Howard, Tobias E. Stat'shury,
John Buck, Upton ilead, Benjami Buck and Joseph 11. Ford, be,
and they are hereby created and declared a body poiitic and corpo-
rate, by the name, style and title of the visitori of the Baltimore coun-
ty school, and by the same name shall have perpetual succession,
and that when any vacancy or vacancies shall happen in the said
board of visitors, by death, resign.:tion, or reftusal to act, of any of
the visitors to said school, the surviving or remaining visitors, or a
majority of themn, may proceed to fill up such vacancy or vacancies,
so as to perpetuate the number of seven visitors to said school for
ever, and shall be able to sue and be sued, iinplcad and be impleadcd.
in any court of ,tw or equity in this state, or els.hwhere, and to tnake
and hiave a colmmnon seal, a;nd the same to break, ,lter, or renew at
their pleasure; and also to ordain and establish such bl-laws and
ordinant.es as shall appear necessary for regulating the concerils ef
the said school, and for promoting literature within the samne, not
being repugnant to the laws of this state.
Property ycs-  2. And be it cnacted, That ill that tract of land heretofore convey-
ted.       ed to the Rev. William Tibbs, John Dorsev, William Hamllbeton,
John Stokes, Thomas Sheredine and loger lmltthews, and their tiuc-
cessors, for the use and binefit of the Baltimore county school, to-
gether with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging, be, and the
same is hereby vested in the visitors aforesaid, and their suiccessors
for ever, for the use and benefit of the said school, and for no other
use, intent, or purpose, whatsoever.
Acts or deeds  ,3. .nd be it enacted,' That all acts or deeds of the said corporation
valid in law. shall be signed by tile visitors, or a majority of themn, in behalf of the
corporation and sealed with their corporate seal; and all acts or deeds
of the said body corporate, so authenticated, shall be valid and ellcc-
tual in law.
May acquire   4. Aind be 2t enacted, That the said corporation shall be capable of
prol)erty.  purchasing, hertafter, real or personal property, for the use and betie--
fit of said school.

ed in the clerk's oflice of Prince George's county, within three
months from the time of their arrival into this atatc.
