Fo'nier act  Section 1. Be it enacted by the General'JIscnmibl of Mlaryland, That
modified,   nothing cont'ined in the act, entitled, A  furth r supplenmcnt to the
act, cntitle(c, An act to regulate the inspection of tobacco, passed at
December session, eighteen hundred and twenty one, chapter one
hundred and ninety four, shall be consrued to authorisc the inpec-
tors of tobacco in dhis state, to retain in their posnession any samples
they may draw under the provisions of said act, without the assent
of the owners thereof or their agents.
Former acts  2. .nd be it enacted, That all such parts of the act aforesaid, winch
repealed.   makes it the duty of the inspectors to attend once in each of thti
mi-onthis of April, May, June, July, August, September, October and
November in every Year o shewitig the said samples to dealers, oil
such days as the respective levy courts shall appoint, and wlich di-
rcots notice of such iecetings to be published in as many newspapers
in the District of Columbia and Baltimore as may be deemed nece-
sarv to give information of such mectings, be and the same are here-
by repealed.

are not repealed by this act, be and the same arc hereby extended to
Charles and St. Mary's counties, to be of full force and cffect in said
counties.

Preamible.    WiEriAs, Williamii Wright, of Queen Ann's cotinty, by his peti-
tion hath set forth to this general assembly that he internia-ried With
a lady of the state of Louisianna, by whom he b~camc entitled to a
negro mai named Thornton, and a negro girl nined Esther, which
cannot be removed firom the said state of Louisiana into the state of
Maryland without a law for that purposc; therefre,
Import slaves  11e it cnacted by the General Asscmbly of Maryland, That it ihall
andi may be lawftl for the said William W'-ight, to ren ove the said
negro nan named Thornton and negro girl Esther ihito ths state, and
to have and to hold the said negroes as slaves as fully and amply as
though they had never been removed, any law to the contrary not-
Provisos    withstanding; Providel, the said William Wright shall w*vlin six
months after the passage of this act, make out and deliver to the clerk
,of Gucen Ann!s county court, a list of said slaves, stating their
a;.s, names and sexes, which list the said clerk is hereby empowered
and dirmcted to record; and provided also, that nothing herein con-
taincd sh;all he construed to allow a disposition of said slaves, except
in cases c-fdisposition by last will and testament, and dispositions by
'tv.- for ,ona tide debts, or consequent upon intestacy in' less than

petition of Nathaniel Boggs, a free mulatto, born in the state of Vir-
ginia, that he has lived in this state for some time past, and that he
has been usefully employed in the boating busincss, and whcreas, he
