Oljects-capi-  2. At D Br IT 'NACT D, That the objects of the said corpora-
tal.       tion are declared to he the manufacturing and vending of cotton
goods, and the carrying on of any other branches of manufacture
in their discretion; for which purposes they are hereby authorised
to purchase and hold lands in fee simple or otherwise, not exceed-
ing three hundred acres at a time, anl to erect thercon all needful
or convenient buildings. Tie capital stock of said corporation shall
be one hundred and fifty thousand dollars, divided into fifteen hun-
dred shares of one hundred dollars each.

gents-powers, rumn) shall be authorised to employ, compensate and dismiss at
pleasure, all officers and agents which may be thought needful or
beneficial to the company. They shall establish regulations for
the transfer of the stock thereof, and for proof of the ownership
therein. They shall have power in behalf of the company, to enter
into contracts; to borrow money; to make purchases and sales of
real and personal property, and to use therefor the name, or the
name and scal of the corporation; and they shall generally have
authority to exercise all the powers and privileges conferred on, or
appertaifing to this corporation.

.inswerable for stock of the corporation shall be bound and answerable for any
debts.      contracts or engagements made or liability incurred by a quorum
of the stock-holders, or through their agency, or by their authority;
but the stock-holder:i shall in no wise be answerable or liable there-
for, in their individual capacities or private estates; and a quorum
of the stock-hotlers may at any time dissolve the corporation; Pro-

shall not he impaired or affected by such dissolution.

182Z      Br IT 1:Nc'r'i:D By the General Assenbly of Aharyland, That
May import at any' time after the passage of this act, William Harness, of Alle-
slave      ganv county, in said state, be and he is hereby authorised to bring
into this state, and him to retain as a slave, a certain negro boy
named Sampson, any law to the contrary notwithstanding; Provided
nevertheless, Tlhat nothing in this act contained, shall be construed
to authorise a disposition of said slave, except in cases of dispo-
sition by last will and testament, and dispositions by law for bona
fide debts, or consequent upon intestacy, in less than three whole
years after the passage of this act; Andprovidedmoreover, That the
said William Harness shall cause the said negro boy to be register-
ed in the records of Allegany county, within six months after he
shall have been brought into this state.
