To legalize and confirm two acts of sale made by Marie Emilie Derbanne, wife of.John Bernard
Vandegriffe, through Pierre Alcide Dupleix, ier attorney in fact, all of the parish of Nutchl-
toches, of certain dotal property, to .oseph Roman FrAdric and Terence Chaler, also ofthe
parish of Natcliltoches, which acts were paKsed on the thirteenth day of June, A. D. 1857,
before William Payne, Notary Public in and for the parish of Natchitoches.
Preamble. Wun:F.s, Marie Emilie Derbaite, wife of John Bernardi Vaidegriffe,
through Pierre Alcide Duploix, her attorney inl fact, did, by two
aets of salv, passed helore William Pavne, a Notary Public int and for the
parish of Natchiloches, on the thirteenth day of June, A. 1. 1837, for and
in conideration of the sums of one thousand dollars and fifteen hundred
dollars, respectively, eash in hatn paid, sell, assign, set over antI deliver
unto Joseph Roman Fndric and Terence Chaler, respectively of the same
residence, the slave Catherine, a negro woman aged about thirty-four
years, and the slave Ambrose, a Iegro) mt1an, aged about thirty-live years,
slaves for life; and whereas said slaves constituted a portion of the dotal
property of the said Marie Enilie )erlianne, and int order to dispose of the
saime', the said Marie Emnilie Derbaie, obligate. herself hy said acts of
sale to have the same legalized and confirmed by an act of the Legislature
of Louisiana, therefore
