dermen, and officers appointed by them, may receive such reasona-
ble compensation for their services as may be fixed by the by-laws.

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Bepresentatives
Appropriatons of the State of Lonisiawa in ieneral ASSembld COnened, TGtat t&  folloW-
tor thasl ig sums be and .they are hereby appropriated for the following
lot Apra, issr  purposes, for the fiscal yfar commencing on the first day of April,
eighteen hundred and fifty-seven, and ending on the thirty-first day
of March, eighteen hundred and fifty-eight:
1. For the salary of the Governor, under Act No. 809
of 1855, four thousand dollars.................. $4,000 00
2. For the salary of the Secretary of State, under Act
No. 298 of 1855, two thousand dollars..........  2,000 00
3. For the salary of the State Treasurer, under Act No.
325 of,1855, two thousand five hundred dollars..  2,500 00
4. For the salary of the Auditor of Public Accounts,
under Act No. 119 of 1855, Four thiisand dollars.  4,000 00
5. For the salary of the Chief Clerk of Auditor's office,
appropriation bill, two thousand dollars.........  2,000 00
6. For the salary of the Clerk of Secretary of State's
office, appropriation bill, fifteen hundred dollars..  1,500 00
