No. 197.]              JOINT RESOLUTION
Instructing our Senators and requesting our Representatives in Congress, to call the at-
tention of Congress to a memorial of the State of Louisiana to Congress, presented in
the year eighteen hundred and forty-one, praying to cause to be removed obstructions
placed in the Bayou Lafourche by orders from General Jackson, during the invasion of
Louisiana by the British in eighteen hundred and fourteen and eighteen hundred and
fifteen.
Preamble.  WIIEREAs obstructions were caused to be placed in the Bayou La-
fourche by orders from General Jackson, to prevent the British
forces from ascending said bayou; and whereas said obstructions
have caused serious injury to the planters on said bayou, causing
mounds and sand bars to be formed, narrowing the channel of said
bayou, causing the bed of the bayou to fill up, and increasing the
hight of the water so as to cause great injury to the plantations,
threatoning the lower portion of the settlement with destruction:
Therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
State of Louisiana in General Assembly convened, That our Senators
