SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-

vagrancy, or of disorderly or indccent conduct, at their discretion, for
a period not to exceed thirty days, and all persons fined for crimes
and misdemeanors, who shall not immediately on conviction pay the
fine and costs of prosecution; provided, however, that no person shall
be sent to the workhouse for an offence for which he has been sent to
the Penitentiary or the Parish Jail.

runaways, shall be sent to the workhouse, and there employed apart
from the white persons confined therein, until legally claimed by their
owners.
