            No. 250.                       AN  ACT
               To chansge the times of holding cour s in the twelthJudiilaldstrict ofthesatteoionidana
               SEcTIoN 1. Be  itenacted  by the Senate and House  If Re
 rams uof the State of Louis-iana,   in General  Assembly convened, That  the judge
 in the twelsh of the twelfth judicial district of the State, shall not be required to hold
 udicialdistrit. more than two terms of court a year, in each parish composing said dis-
            trict, except in cases hereinafter provided.
              SEC. 2. Be  it further enacted, 4v., That said courts shall commence
 court sessions upon the following days, viz.: in the parish of Jackson, on the third Mon.
 Inthe aorer*ald days of March and October; in the parish of Union, on the first Mondays
            of April and November;   in the parish of Morehouse, on  the third Mon.
            days of April and November;  in the parish of Ouachita on the first Mon.
            days of May and December.
              SEc.  3. Be it further enacted, 4-c., That at said terms of courts, cases
            in which juries are required, shall have the pieference to be tried first, and
  Ptfer.ne  should the time Allowed not be sufficient to try all the cases ready for trial
  gaswdfr trial at any one of said courts, it shall be the duty of the judge, on the requedt
  in.nat case of either party to such cause or causes, to hold a special term for the trial
       seall thereof; to commence upon a day anterior to the next regular term of such
 con        court, which day shall be fixed and entered upon the minutes of the court
            before adjourning the term.
              SEc. 4. Be  it further enacted, 4jv., That this act shall have effect from
when  this act and after the first day of July next, and from that day all laws inconsistent
     t e   herewith  be, and the same are hereby repealed.

             SECTION   1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House  of Representatives
           of the State ofLouisiana, in General Assembly convened, That  the fourth

phctheum.  of June one thousand eight hundred and forty-six, be amended and re-enac.
=oshall  beted so as  to read as follows: Such   summons   shall be served by the
    of slave. sheriff or one of his deputies, or by any constable of the parish in which
           the trial is to take place; in case of vacancy in the office of sheriff or
           any interest of such officer in the proceedings, they shall be served by the
           coroner;  and in case there be neither sheriff nor coroner, or both be in.
           gerested, or shouldthere-be no constable in the ward in which said tribu.
