River in the said parish be, and the same is herbby removed to the house
of Melzeliah Wadsworth.

To establish an election precinct in the parish oi Franklin.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State
of Louisiana in General Assembly convened, That there be an election
precinct established in the parish of Franklin, at the house of John H.
Hewett, on the west side of Bceuf river, and that all elections held at said
precinct shall be conducted in accordance with the laws relative to elec-
tions in said parish.

To incorporate the Borough ef Freeport.
SECrioN 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
renFation, iof the State of Louisigna in General Asscmbly convened, -That from and
AMO.       after the passage of this act, the free white male inhabitants of all that por-
tion of the parish of Jefferson, situated within the upper limit of the city of
Lafayette, and the upper limit of Bloomingdale, on the left bank of the
river Mississippi, descending, and as far back from said river as is now,
or may hereafter be settled within said lines, shall form a corporation and
a body politic, by the name of the  Borough of Freeport, and by that
name, they and their successors shall be known in law, and be capable to
contract, sue and be sued, defend and be defended, in any court whatever,
and to hold, purchase, receive, possess and retain to them and their suc-
cessors all and every kind of property, whatsoever, which may be neces.
sary for municipal purposes, and the same to alien, transfbr, lease, farm
and dispose of, and may have and use a common seal, and may alter and
change the same at pleasure.
SEc. 2. Be itfurther enacted, &c.; That there shall be annually elected
entl election by the qualified voters of said corporation, eight Aldermen, one Secretary,
esucere. who shall also act as Comptroller and Treasurer of said corporation, one

shall have power to appoint such other officers as may, from time to time.
