SEC. 17. Be it furthier enacted, 4e. j That this act shall be in force
from and after the date of its publicition in the State Gazette, but if from
any cause whatever, the first election thereunder should not take place at
the time specified; it shall he laivtl to hlid the same at any time thereafter,
to be desig'nated by the Parish Juige of the parish of Ascension.
SEC. 18. Be it further enac'ed, 4-c.; That all laws inconsistent with
this act, are hereby repealed, and declared henceforth null and void.
