No. 113-AN ACT to amend the Act of the twenty-sixth March eighteen hundred and
forty-two entitled: An Act to increase the Revenue ofthe State.
Be it cnacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Stte o
Louisiana, in General Assembly convened ; That the Clerks of Court,
Sheriffs, Parish Judges, Notaries Public throughout the State shall be ex-
empted to pay the two per cent tax imposed by the fifth section of an Act
entitled: an Act to increase the Revenue of the State, approved on the
twenty-sixth of March 1842.

No. 114-AN ACT to amend the several Acts incorporating the town of Natchitoches.
SniCT. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House qf Representatives of
the State of Louisiana, i,  General Assembly convened; That there shall
not be levied by the authorities thereof, hereafter a higher tax <in real
property and slaves in said town, than one thousand five hundred dollars
except in cases where a further sum may be demanded by a vote of two-
thirds of the inhabitant voters thereof, which election the Trustees, for
the time being may order upon ten (lays previous notice.
SECT. 2. And be it further enacted, 4*c., That it shall not be cmpetent
for the Trustees pf said town to pay out in salaries to officers, in any one
year, more than one quarter of the whole town revenues actually received
in the Treasury.

No. 115-AN ACT for the relief of Joseph Z, Trudeau.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State
of Louisiana, in -General Assembly convened; That the Ti casurer of the
State be, and is hereby authorized and directed to receive from Josiph Z.
Trudeau, three hundred and eighty-five dollars in the notes ofthe Improve-
ment Bank, one hundred and ninety dollars in the notes of the Exchange
and Banking Company, otte hundred and forty-three dollars in the notes
of the Bank of Orleans, and forty-five dollars in the notes of the Atehafa-
laya Railroad and Banking Company, which notes were received by him
as Collector of State Taxes on trades and professions in the Second Mu-
nicipality of the city of Now Orleans, in payment of Taxes at par, and
when the sai dnotes were current, and only a few days before the depre-
ciation of said notes.
