No. 160.-AN ACT for thetbenefit of George W.Painter and others.
WHEREAi, at the sale of the slaves of the New Orleans and Nashville
Railroad Company, at the suit of the State, on the 20th of August, 1842,
the State became the purchaser of two slaves, named Mingo and Allen
Lane, for the sum of two thousand three hundred and thirty dollars, and
it, has been decided by the Supreme Court of the State thht George W.
Painter and others are entitled by law to be paid the proceeds of said
slaves in preference to the State-
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of
Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That theTreasurer of the State
shall pay to the claimants the amount bid. by the State for said slaves,
with interest according to the terms and conditions of the sale: Provided
however, that the ,Treasurer be fully satisfied that the said judgments
herein provided for have not been satisfied out of the proceeds of the
sales of other property decreed to be subject to said judgments.

No. 161.-AN ACT relative to Elections held In the Parishs. of Caddo, De Soto and Iberville.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
of the State of Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That the law
Term o elec, in relation to elections in the Parishes of Caddo and De Soto be so
ten.       amended that hereafter they be held during two days instead of three,
as now prescribed for by law.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, 4r. That the Election Precinct hereto-
fore fixed at Samuel Martin's residence at Galveston, Parish.of Iberville,
Precinct  be and the. same il hereby changed from that place, and shall be here-
after held at the actual residence of Eloi Landry, on the high land.

No. 162.-AN ACT for the Relief of Antoine Lafarguo and Suzanne Graciesedo Larothe

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represenatives
of the State of Louisiana, is general assembly convened, That Antoine
Adoption.  Lafargue, of New   Orleans, and Suzanne Gracieuse de Lamothe, his
legitimate wife, be, and they are hereby authorized to adopt as their
daughter, Juliana Roman, and to give her in place of her present.name,
that of Cldmence Lafargue.
EEO. 2. Be it further enacted, 4v. That said adoption shall be effected
How estected. by mean of aniauthentic act, to which the said Juliana Roman.sball lie
.made a party, withthe assistance of a curator ad hoc, wlo shall be ap-
pointed to her by the Judge of the Parish Court, in and for the Parish
and City of N'ew Orleans.
