by virtue of this Act be capable of holding, possessing, owning and en-
joying, they and their successors forever. any property, real or personal,
of any nature, by vay of contracts, purchase, hire, transfer, exchange,
Privege.  and all other modes or form of contracts of any kind known to the laws
of this State, and be capable also to receive and accept any gifts and
donations inter vivos and causa mortis that may or shall be made to them
by any private persons or body politic, to build, erect, rebuild, repair,
improve, or cause to be improved, all kinds of edifices, homses or build-
ingi that may from time to time be found by them necessary or useful
for the object of their charitable institution, to conduct, manage or ad-
minister, by themselves or by any three of themselves whom they may
deem proper to appoint or designate according to the rules of their in-
stitute, all or any part or parts of their property or affairs: Provided,
that none of the properties or money, income or revenues of said insti-
tution, and no part of the gifts or donations made to the same shall in
any manner be employed or disposed of otherwise than for the exclusive
use and benefit of the same.
SEc. 2. Be s.further enacted, 4-. That in regard to all and every
destitute orphan that shall have been admitted into said Asylum, and of
unorha,,iv whom the said Asylum shall have taken charge, it shall not be lawful for
authority ofr s the relations of said child at any time thereafter to take, arrest from or
cars or charity, carry away the said child without the consent of said Sisters of Charity,
wvho shall have maternal authority over all and every one of the children
entrusted to them, and shall continue to enjoy the same until they have
attained the age of majority, or be emancipated by marriago contract or
otherwise.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, 4v. That there shall be at all times
kept in the said New Oleans Female Orphan Asylui ., subject to be in-

to allow can.may be necessary to show the situation of the said Asylum, what proper.

No. 131-AN ACT to change the mode of appointing DrPputy Sheriffe.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of
Louisiana in General Assembly convened, That it shall no longer be ne-
cessary for the oath of office to be administered in open Court to any
Deputy Sherif, but that said oath of office may be administered by the
Parish Judge in open Court or at chambers.
SEc. 2. Be it further enacted, 4c. That this Act shall be in force from
and after its passage.
