No. 83.-AN ACT to revive the Insolvent Laws of the State of Louisiana.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of
Louisiana in General Assembly convened, That the Insolvent Laws of said
State, it force at the date of the passage of the last Bankrupt Law of
the United States, be and the same are hereby declared to be in full
force and virtue: Provided; that the article 3053 of the Louisiina Code
*be so amended that the opinion of a majority of the creditors, in number
and amount, shall prevail.

No. &1.-AN ACT for the Rolief of A. C. Einton, a citizen of the Republic of Texas.
Be it enacted by the Senate and Rouse of Representatives of the State of
Louisiana in General Assembly convened, That the State Treasurer be and
be is hereby authorisedand directed to pay to A. C. Hinton, upon his
own warrant, out of any moneys in the Treasury not otherwise appro-
priated, the sum of three hundred dollars, the same being in full for his
services in appearing in the Courts of Texas, at the request of George
H. Flood, United States Charge d'Affaires near the Republic of Texas,
in the case where one Moro Phillips, a fugitive from justice, charged
with negro stealing, in the State of Louisiana, said Phillips being arrest-
ed in Texas and brought before the Court on a writ of habeas corpus,
and discharged.

No. 85.-RESOLUTION.
Be it Resolved, by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State
qf Louisiana in General Assembly convened, That James G. Taliaferro,
Parish Judge of the Parish of Catahoula, be permitted and have leave
to absent himself from the State of Louisiana, for a time not exceeding
four months, during the year eighteen hundred and forty-three, to com-
mence on the first of April next.
And be it further Resolved, qc. That it shall be the duty of the said
Judge to notify Wim. M. Tew, a Notary Public of the Parish of Cata-
houla, of the time lie shall depart and return to the State, and it shall be
the duty of the said Tew, and he is hereby authorised, to discharge all
the duties of said Judge, during his ab'sence' so far as relates to the pass-
ing of notarial acts and granting marriage licenses.

86.-RESOLUTION.
Be it Resolved, by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State
of Louisiana in General Assembly convened, That the State Engrineer
be and lie is hereby ordered to have constructed, as soon as practicable,
and at such point as shall be most desirable, a dam or levee across the
bed of Little Bayou Rouge, a tributary of Old River, in the Parish of
Avoyelles, so as to prevent the further formation of sand bars in the bed
of Old River, in the said Parish.
