No. 58.-AN ACT to amend an Act entitled An Act to prevent the carrying away of Slaves, and
for other purposes, approved 19th March, 1839.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of
the State of Louisiana. in General Assembly convened, That all persons
Dlty of shippers engaged in the business of shipping seamen, who have given bonds in
ot seamen.  conformity with the Act of which this an- amendment, shall, in case of
death, bankruptcy, or the removal from the State, of his sureties, be com-
pelled, within fifteen days after such may happen, to renew his or their
bonds, as provided for in the first section of the Act of which this Act
is an ametidment; and in case of neglect or refusal, the person so offend-
ing shall be fined five hundred dollars, together with all costs, as recited

Sc. 2. Be it further enacted, 4c. That whenever the sureties above-
named, or either of them, shall remove from the State, die, or become
Brend null on bankrupt, the bonds signed by them shall be considered null and void, as

No. 59 -AN ACT to Incorporate the Rubscribers to the Glass Manufacturing Company of the
Parish of Jefferson.
Whereas, Constant Joseph Petit, Lewis Landousy Gordien, Antoine
Ferrand, Charles Petit fils, D. F. Burthe, Raphael Tolddano, Camille
Term.      Zdringue, and Charles Bombonnel, have associated themselves for the
purpose of establishing a Glass Manufactory in the Parish of Jefferson:
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and Ilouse of Representatives of
the State of Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That the afore-
named persons, their associates, successors, and assigns, be and they are
lereby made, for and during the term of ten years, a body politic and
Title.     corporate, under the style of the  Glass Manufacturing Company of,
the Parish of Jefferson, and under said title they shall be capable of
suing and being sued, and of making any regulations they may deem ne-
owers cessary, not contrary to the constitution and laivs of the United States,
and of this State.
SEC. 2. Be it firther enacted, 4*c. That the affairs of said Company
shall be managed by nine Directors, to be elected annually, by the Stock-
Directars,-by holders; each and every share upon which payments shall have been
whom elected. punctually made, shall entitle the owner thereof to one vote.
SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, 4v. That the capital stock of said Com-
pany shall not exceed ten thousand dollars, to be divided into shares of
Capital stock. one hundred dollars each, payable at such times and in such manner as
may be established by a majority of said Directors, which shares may be
made transferable in the manner provided by the regulations of said
Company.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, 4v. That the above-named persons
be and they are hereby appointed Commissioners for the purpose of re-
