No.163.--AN ACT concrning the associate judges of the City Cour
of New Oriezus.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted, by the Senate and House
of Representatives of the State of Louisiana, in gene-
ral assembly convened, That whenever any associate

anothr i .  attend to the trial of causes in his court, it shall be law-
?fslckness, &o. ful for any other of the said associate judges to preside
over said court and try said causes, and render judg-
ments in the same, and executions shall issue thereon,
the process issuing in the name of the incumbent of
said court.
SEC. 2. .Rnd be it further enacted, Sc., That leave of
Leave of ab.absence be granted to Thomas N. Morgan, one of the

April, May, June and July of this year.

and levees in the parish of Concordia, and to coiifirm certuin proceed-
ings of the police jury of the sanie parish.
WHEREAS the police jury of the parish of Concordia
did, at the November session of the said jury, in the
year 1841, make and ordain two ordinances, in the fol-
lowing words, to wit:
AN ORDINANCE,
Entitled  An ordinance to levy a special tax, and for other purposes.
Whereas unlimited power has been granted by the
legislature of the state to the police jury of the parish of
Concordia to assess and collect any tax which they may
deem necessary, on lands within their limits, to cover
the expenses of leveeing any public lands or other
necessary work, to shelter the inhabitants against inun-
dation; Therefore,
Section 1. Be it ordained, by the police jury of the

divided into three levee wards, to wit
