of said town shall, within such lime as shall be pro-
vided for by the by-laws of the corporation, after: the
receipt of his warrant for collecting any tax that may
have been ordered to have been raised, collect and Pay
the same to the treasurer; and th said collector shall
conection or have the same power to enforce the payment of the
taxes imposed by the said trustees as are given by law
to the sheriffs of this state to compel the payment of
state taxes.
Snc. 11. Be it further enacted, 4-c., That this act
shall be in force from and after its passage.

SEcTION 1. Be it enacted, by the Senale and Iloise
of Representatives of the State of Louisiana, in ge2ze-
ral assembly convened, That it shall be the duty of the

ectr oi to. police jury of the parish of Jefferson, for the use of said
parish, to notify all persons, whether residents or non-
residents, who shJl have such taxes to pay, of the day
on which the same shall become due, and of the place
where he shall keep his ollice, by notices inserted, in
the French and English languages, during two months
previous to said day, in one of the papers published in
said parish, as also in two papers published in the city
of New Orleans, one of which shall be the state paper;
which notices, when published twice a week in each of
said papers during the period of thee above mentioned,
shall be deemed suflicient to all intents and purposes;
and it shall be the duty of every person owing a parish
tax as aforesaid, to pay the same, or cause it to be paid,
at the office of the said collector, within thirty days after
that on which the same shall have become due, as stated
in said advertiseduents.
Suc. 2. Be it further enacted, <S*c., That at the ex-
piration of the delay granted in the foregoing section,
