qo. 85.-AN ACT iklative tb public roads in the parish of Union.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House
bf Representatives of the State of Louisiana, in gene-
ral asscmbly convened, That the police jury of the
jolc, jury parish of Uni6n shall-have the power to class the public
empowered to roads in said parish, in any number of grades they may
as.the public deem proper, not exceeding three: Provided the largest
class shall hot be less than is provided in the third set-
tion of an act eiltitled  An act to provide further and
more effectually fot the police of public roads in this
state, approved March tivelfth, eighteen hundred and
eighteen hundred and eighteen; and the smallest large
enough to be travelled with ease by barts, wnggons, &c;
SEc. 2. .Be it frther chachted, 4-c., That the police

always a pportion them, according to its class, in sich
inatind that an dqial amoiuht of labbr shall be perform-
ed on each road ih. proportibi to its size, and the nature
of the country through which it runs.
SEC. 3. Be it further' enabled, 4c., That hereaftei
o exemption no person in said parish shall be exempted from working
torofs    the public roads therein by the mere fact of having two
slaves subject to toad dnity.
SEC. 4. .And be it further enated,., That all atts
nepealing contrary to the provisions of. this act be and the same
are hereby repealed.
