Relative to Criminal Prosncutions in the First Judicial District.
Be it enacted by the Senate and -Iouse of Representatives of
the State ofLouisiana in General Assembly convened, That in
Criminanlro all criminal prosecutions in the Criminal Court of the First
formation.  District, for crimes and offlences, punishable by not more
than two years hard labor, the proceedings may be by infor-
mation.

that portion of the Parish of Orleans situated on the right bank of the Rivet
Mississippi approved March 28th 1940, aud for other purposes.
SECTION 1. Bec it enacted if/e Senate and House of Rep-
resentatives f/the State of Louisiana in General Asseinbly
Sect. 7ix of convened, That the seventh section of the above act he so

ied.           That as soon as the Police Jury of that portion of the
Parish of Orleans, shall have appointed a treasurer, the same
is hereby authorised to call on the treasurer of the Parish of
Orleans for a settlement of the taxes of the year 1839, those
collected and those to be collected.
SEc. 2. Be it fjrtiher enacted, 4-c. That the President of
the Police Jury of that portion of the Parish of Orleans shall
casting vote. be entitled to a casting vote on all questions where the
members of' the Police Jury are equally divided.
Spc.'3. Be it fierther enacted, 4-c. That the Police Jury
Powers of 'o- of that portion of the Parish of Orleans shall have full power
lire tory.  to appoint such officers as shall be necessary in said Parish
for the better regulation and police of' said portipn of the
Parish of'Orlcans.
