[No. 1.]-AN ACT
Relative to the Police Jury of the Parish of Caldwell.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House
of Representatives of the State of Louisiana in Gene-
PoliceJury orral Assembly convened, That thc Police Jury of the
c    nldwllauthof Parish of Caldwell shall have and are hereby invested
the Parish in- witli full authority to divide said Parish into any num-

Wards. Jury ber of Police Jury Wards, not less than five nor more
than twelye, and to change and alter, diminish or in-
crease the number of the same from time to time as may,
by the said Police Jury, be deemed expedient.
SECT. 2. Be it further enacted, c.: That every
free white male citizen of the Parish of Caldwell who
Qualifcations has attained the age of twenty one years who shall be
Irired o be 0: the owner of any freehold, estate or slave, or other taxa-
Jqurof Poeishble property and who shall have resided in said Parish
caiwell.  twelve months and in the Ward he offers to represent
six months inmmediately preceding his election and who
shall have or may be liable to pay a State or Parish tax
unless legally exempted, shall be eligible as a member
of the Police Jury of said Parish; and that every free
qualifications white male citizen of said Parish who hath attained the
required to votereinc
ifermembers of age and acquired the residence specified in this section
Police Jury.  shall be authorised to vote for members of the Police
Jury.
SECT. 3. Be it further enacted, cc., That from and
Pariah aJudge after the passage of this Act the Parish Judge of the Pa-
e lt ofr Jes rish of Caldwell shall no longer be President of the
Jury.     Police Jury but that said Police Jury shall elect its own
President.
