SECT. S.    Be it furthd enacted, &c., That the
Amount of bonds of the municipalities, received by the treasurer in
bonds of each exchange for those of the State, may be in such sums as
said treasurer may require; but not for less than twenty-
five thousand dollars each.
SECT. 9. Be it further enacted, &c., That it shall

No. 41.-AN ACT to create the office on auditor of auctiony
sales in and for the city of New-Orleans, and for other
purposes.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House
of Representatives of the State of Louisiana, in gen-
eral assembly convened, That there shall be appointed
Auditor ap- by the governor of the State, with the consent and ad-
pointed.   vice of the senate, immediately after the passage of this
act, and in the first ten days of the month of February of
every two years thereafter, a suitable and discreet person
to be auditor on auction sales, and whose duty will be
as follows:
His duties.  1st. To require all auctioneers in the city of New-Or-
leans to keep, in a book to be provided at the expense of
said auctioneers and to be by the siid auditor numbered
from the first to the last page, a correct and true account
of all sales made by them from day to day, showing the
date of each sale, the name or names of the seller and
buyer, and the amount of said sale.
2d. To call, as often as he may deem proper, on any
auctioneer, and require the production of any books or
accounts kept by the said auctioneer in the ordinary
course of his business as such.
3d. He shall examine and compare with the books the
account to be rendered by all auctioneers as hereinafter
specified, and certify the same under his hand; he shall
copy into a book to be kept by him the account so ex-
amined, and mention the day on which it was presented.
