Preamble.      WHEREAS, the Treasurer of the State did, according to
the before recited Act, subscrihe five hundred shares to the com-
pany as above named, which subscription ivs to have been
paid in slave labor at one 'hundred and fifty dollars per year for
each hand; and whereas, not one dollar in labor or otherwise,
has begn paid, to said company:
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of
State Treasurer the State -of Louisiana, in General Assenly convened, That
to pay in money the State Treasurer is hereby authorised to pay, in lien of' the
