AN ACT

To grant certain privileges to the town of Harrisonburgh.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and Hlouse of Vrpre-
sentativcs if the State of Louisiana in General Assenbly con-
oy the vened, That the limits of the town of larrisonihurgli shall here-
after be as follows, to wit : beginning at the mouth of the Ferry
Branch ; thence up the same to the first fork ; thence up the
left fork to the head ; thence with tle dividing riggo to the head
of Harrison's Spring Branch ; thece such cours as will inter-
sect the Alexandria road at Boook's line ; thence cast to the
Prairie Bayou ; thence down said bayou to the Ounchita river;
thence up thO OUnchita to the place 'of Leginning : and all the
free white inhabitants, citizens of the State, twenty-one years
of ago, residing within the limits above named, and who shall
have resided there six months proceding, or shall have paidt a
town tax, shall on the first Monday in May, or so soon thercaller
as the Parish Judge may order, and at such times as may be
hereafter prescribed, meet at the court-house in said town, and
under the superintendence of said Judge, and two freehiolders to
be by him appointed and sworn, elect by hallot four discreet
of Se- frecholders of said town, one of whtom shall be designated on
or said the tickets as Town Magistrate, and President of the Board, to
act as Selectmen of said town, for one ear subsequent to the
said first Alonday : provided, they shall be free white citizens of
the United States, twenty-one years of age, possess real es ate
within the limits of said town, of the value of one thousand dol-
lars ; and hive resided in said town twclh e months preceding
the election ; and the persons who obtain a majority of the
votes given, shall be declaed duly elected Selectmen ; and the
oie recpiving a majority of votes as Town Magistrate and Pre-
sident, 9iall also ho declared elected ; and they shall be fiurish-
ed'with Artifientes of their election accordingly.
