AN ACT to amend an act entitled *An act to incorporate the-Town of Thi- bodeauville and for other purposes. Original act a. Section 1. Be it enacted boy the Senate and House of Representatives of maended. the State of Louisiana is general assembly convened, That the first section of said act, be and the same is hereby amended, as that the town of Thibo- deauville, in addition to the limits therein designated, shall include the lots above the main road leading from the bayou Lafourche to the parish of Ter- rebonne, now owned by P. Ml. and J. Sargeant, T. Chamberlin, G. Barada Perret, and that the proviso contained in the first said section be so far amended, as not to exem.pt the lots now owned by, the widow of H. S. Thi- bodaux from town taxes, as soon as they shall cease to be her property; nor shall the lots sold subsequently to the passage of said act, be exempted from taxation. Second see- Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, 4rc. That the secopd section of said act be tion also amen- so amended, as that every free male white citizen above the age of twenty-one ded. years. who shall have rented a tenement in said town for the last six months preceding the elections, shall be, and is hereby declared competent to vote at town elections and eligible to nay corporation office. Third section Sec. 3. Be it further enacted, &c. That the third section or said act be so Thi amended. amended, that if at any time the President should resign or absent himself for more than one month, the remaining trustees shall have the right to elect another, and in case of death, resignation, or removal of any one of the trus- tees of said town, the President is hereby authorised and empowered to cause an election to be holden to fill the vacancy. Fourth section See. 4. Be itfurther enacted, &c. That the fourth section of said act be so also amended, amended, as to giva power to the Trustees to order and superintend the re- pairs required on the levee of said town, as also the exclusive privilege of is- tablishing a ferry from the said town to the opposite bank of bayou Lafaurche, together with the right of taxing taverns,mercantile houses, apothecary shops, shops for retailing spirituous liquors, billiard tables, &a. Provided always, that the tax thus levied shall not exceed that imposed by the state on similar establishments. Fifth section Sec. 7. And be it further enacted, &c. That the fifth section of said act be also ameqded: so amended, as that the President of the hoard of trustees, shall not have power or nuthority to draw money from the treasury, unless by order of the board of trustees.
