aforesaid place within the time required by law, any law to
the contrary- notwithstandng.
, Sec. 4. Be it further enacted. That all the expenses incident
to the establishment of the seat of justice, as aforesaid shall be
at the expense of the parish of St. Tammany, and it wib. be
the dut6 of the said judge and police jury of said parish to
take the necessary steps for def.aying the same.
PepeaUng  Sec. 5. Be it juer:Aer nacted, That so much of the act
claue enutled an act for the permanent establibment of the seat
justice in the parish of St. I ammany, at or near the town of
Covington, approved iairch sixteenth, eighteen buvdred and
sixteen, which relates to the place where shall be sticated the
seat of justice, be, and the same is hereby repealed from and
after the thirtieth of December in the present year, and that
from and af er the said thirtieth of December, the place so
seected by-the said commissioners, in the pursuance of the
fqregoiung provision;, shall be, and is hereby made the perma-
nent seat of justice for the parish of St. Tammany.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre.

corporation. destroy any public work or works belonging to a corporation,
other than those for the burning of which he could be prosc-
cuted for arson, the said person or persons shall, on conmic.
tion thereof, be punished by imprisonment at hard labor for
not less than one, nor more than ten years.
Slaves, how  Sec. 2. Be it further enacted That whenever the offences
annished.  mentioned in the previous section shah have been committed
by a slave, with the consent or connivance of his owner. or of
any other free person, such slave or slaves, so committing said
oibiuce, shall, on conviction, stffer corporal punition, not ex.
