H'IIElEAs the cxpression of national gratitude is the high- est reward which can he bestowed on a citizen, who retires from public life after having served his country in the highest office. THEREFORE, Be it resolred by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 8:ate of Louisiana in General IJssem- bly1 conv-ned, That the Legislature of this State entertain the highest veneration for James Monroe, who, by his admin- istration of governent, has preserved the purity of our Republican institutions and the honor of the nation abroad.
