order of the late Governor Claiborne, in the year eighteen hundred
-and thirteen.
Approved December 26th, 1820.
AN ACT to Reimburse to the Parish of Concordia money they have ad.
vanced to D. W. Backer for services rendered by him as Teacher in
the Public School in said Parish.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatires of the
State of Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That the
Treasurer of the State be, and he hereby is authorised and direct-
ed to pay to the Police jury of Parish of Concordia, the sum of
one hundred and twenty five dollars on account of their having
paid on to D. W. Backer, for teaching in the Public School of thut
arish, fromn the first day of February to the thirtieth day of April
of the year eiahteen hundred and nineteen ; and that the Treasu-
rer of State carrv the said sum  to the debit of said Parish for
money appropriated by law, and not paid for the year eighteen
hundred and eighteen; aud that the same be paid upon the war-
rant of the Parish Judge, or President of the Police jury of said
Pat ish.

AN ACT to organize % Volunteer Company in the City of Natchitoches.
Commy of Sfc. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
volunteer i.obe of the State of Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That as
Natehi,.todw  soon as twenty-five citizens of the Town of Natchitoches shall be
willing to be organized into a Company of Volunteers, they shall
elect their Officers and shall transmit a certificate of said elections
to the Governor, who shall commission said Officers; provided,
however, that the number of men, composing said Company, shall
never be less than twenty nor more than forty.
SEc. 2. .And be it further enacted, That whenever the services of
said Company shall be required to go in pursuit of runaway Slaves,
ayta cnranP it shall be the duty of the Commanding Officer to order out such a
i F.1ftway detatchment as he shall deem sufficient; and each Officer and
qaied i r- Private thus employed in the pursuit of said slaves, shall receive a
compensation of two dollars per day, which sum shall be paid by
the owner or owners of the said Slave or Slaves.
SEc. 3. And be it further enacted, That said Company shall be
known by the name of the Natchitoches Troop of Cavalry;
and shall be subject to all the laws relative to the several Volun-
teer Companies of this state.
