Stc. 8. .dnd be it farther eqacteds That the governor be,
and he is hereby authorised to draw quarter!y upon the
public treasury, a warrant in favour of any of the said per*
sons, for the sums due to them respectively, by virtue o tbe.

for of the rights acquired by virtue of the present act, shall
be null and void, and that it shall be- the duty of any person
claiming the payment thereof, by virtue of a powcr of attor-
acy or an authorisation, whatsoever, to take an oath before
one of the parish judges of this state, that be has no intereat
in the said claim, and that to his knowledge no sale or
transfer of the said claim has been made, and that ho will
pay the amount he may receive to the persons above.-aam-
ed; and that any person wyho shall take a false oath oc.

Whereas the approaching adjournment of the legisatur6
does not admit of their making in a permanent manner an
provision for the relief of persons wounded in the defence or
this state and of the widows and children of thosewho-
were killed on the field of battle, or who died in conse
quence oftheir wounds.

ce and private of the militia of this state who shall have.
been wounded in the service of this state or in that of the Lk
9 ates, so as to be unable to earn his livelihood, and who
shall obtain from the surgeon of his regiment a certificate
specifying the nature of the wound and the disability result-
