monies in his hands on a warrant of the speaker, counterV'

purpose of paying Mr. John Chaband secretary of the se-
nate during the first session ofthe second legislature, which
said sum shall be paid to the said John Chaband by the state
treasurer, out of any unappropriated monies in his hands. by
a warrant ofthe president of the senate countersigned by the
secretary.

AN ACT
_For the relief of Charle Savary, and of certain persons
therein mentioned.
SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the .enate and house. of refr.
.?cntatives of the state of Louisiana in generd assembly con
vened, That Charles Savary, the father of 13elton Savary of
the second Battalion of freemen of colour, who died in the
service of this state, during the invasion of the Britisb,
shall be entitled to receive quarterly a sum equal to the pay
to which his son was to receive whilst in active service,
from and after the day on which his son was killed, or died,
until the end of the ensuing session of the legislature.
Szc. 2. And be it /urther enacted. That the pay to which
.were entitled whilst in active service, Peter Valery and Jou-
asin'Renier, both belonging to the second battalion offree-
rnen of colour, and who pcrished in the service of this state,
during the invasion of the British, shall be continued and
paid quarterly to their fathers, from and after the day on
