ries Public of this Territory shall have the right and
are hereby respectively authorized to administer oaths

CHAPTER XXVIII.
AN ACT
Supplementary to the act entitled  An act prescribing
the rules and conduct to be observed with respect to
negrocs and other slaves of this Territory.
Be it enacted by the Legislative Council and House of
rt epresentatives of the Territory of Orlcans in general
assemblA convened, That if any person do harbor or
conceal any runaway slave or slaves, or do receive- the
anie by hiring him, her, or them, or otherwise, it shall
be the duty of the Judge or Justice of the Peace upon
his being informed, that such an offence has been coin.
mhted, to condemn on conviction the person or persons
thus guilty, to a fine which shall not exceed three hun-
dred dollars, nor be less than one hundred dollars, to
the benefit of the parish where the offendermayreside,
and the offender shall-moreover be liable to the penal-
ties enacted in the second section of the act entitled,
