An Act to conuate the punishment f  names 1R. Wilson, o1*f Fu/ton coln-
ty, who is now ander sentence ofdeath.
W1ipluous, JaImes R. Wilson, of the county of Fulton, is now
under sentence of death for the murder of' Thomas Terry, of said
county ;- Aid whereas, as it appears froi the testimony adduced on
the trial of said Wilson, and since discovered, that there is at least  '
doubt-as to the malice and intention on the part of the said Wil-
son, which are necessary to constitute the crime of murder, and
the timc-hionored rule of law in all such cases [is] to give the nc-
cused the benefit of all doubts:
1. SE.crioN 1. Be il therefore enac/cd bq the General AssemblY ol
Georgia, That the sentence of deth 't.igainst the said James I    na
Wilson be, and the same is hereby conuuted to punishment at
hard labor in the Penitontiary of this State, for and during the
term  of ten years.
Sc. II. Repeals conflicting laws:
Assented to December 4th, 1862.

ier the passage of this Act, the Patrol Laws of this State be so
amended as to imake all free white male citizens of this State, he-  ro
ween the ages of eighteen and sixty years, liable to do and per- r*
fbrum patrol duty, notwithstanding any law or custom of this State
to the contrary.*
